DEMONSTRATION FOR SOCIAL, POLITICAL & CULTURAL STRUGGLE AGAINST CAPITALISM!

Friday, 11th April 2008, 4 p.m. Landesmuseum, INNSBRUCK/AUSTRIA

With this demo we want to raise our voices because our society always tries to oppress every individual that raises his/her voice.

Although one shout will not be enough it is still important that we show everyone that we are here – that we are here with a huge pile of anger and a bunch of dreams and ideas.

We have been watching the tend of oppression and subjugation of the entire life by the capitalistic system for years and decades. Another fantasy of anarchists? Or is there a connection between the outrageously high rent, the expulsion of the politics of unwanted people from public places, a permanent consumption obligation and the need for even longer working hours? Isn’t it funny that “de luxe roads” are being built in which the people are only aloud stay in if they boost the economy?! And isn’t it incredible that the city can afford “watchdogs” for the Hofgarten to chase people off the lawn but cannot afford to put up a big garbage bin to solve the litter problem.

We think there is a connection, it is globally present and it is oppressing every single one of us.

We don’t offer any solutions for all these problems but we want to fight for a place where we can try out a self-organised alternative to our daily lives. We want a place for creativity, art and autonomous political projects. We also want to try to work against the social hierarchies.

We don’t expect our system to give us this space, that is why we are prepared to fight for it!

With this demonstration and other action we are showing our solidarity to the call across Europe “for decentralised action for squats and autonomous spaces”. We want to show that we here in Innsbruck are still alive and that the people here are ready to overcome the prevailing relations.

Additional info to the demonstration

Dew to the fact that the “metropolis Innsbruck” (© Citychief Hilde Zach herself) won’t give us, the citizens, the autonomous centers we want and need, on their own (although there is enough space), we have take it into our own hands. The rent is in Innsbruck is not affordable (if it comes to rent, Innsbruck is the most expensive city in Austria). The leisure time is not cheap either – we don’t have cafés without a consumption obligation. To make the situation even worse we are also being chased from the last spots to meet in an outgoing atmosphere: the small remainder of the “Hofgarten”, the Maria-Theresien-Street and the forecourt of the museum. But of course we don’t get a replacement, because it is clear that the unloved critical voices will be heard more once interested people meet at the same place - which a autonomous center would actually cause. That’s why previous initiatives were either given up or reduced to the cultural spaces (p.m.k for example)- as one can see social centers are not wanted by our government. They rather keep building massive prestige buildings.

We’ve had enough!

Why should we put up with this? WE bring color into the city, WE bring life into it, WE ARE THE CITY!

We’re taking what we need! ***

thank you & solidarity! grauzone
