Ce qui suit est une synthèse courte des décisions et projets qui ressortent de la réunion de coordination avril2008 des 24 et 25 novembre aux Tanneries à Dijon.

La réunion a été suivie par environ 120 personnes de 25 pays différents. Au vu de la participation, l'initiative a clairement été acceuillie avec pas mal d'enthousiasme et les retours sur la réunion étaient globalement très bon : ça donnait en tout cas définitivement le sentiment qu'il il y aurait un tas d'actions en avril 2008.

Au delà, ce week-end a généré une excitation collective autour de l'idée de se retrouver pour de futures réunions intersquats, ainsi que d'autres initiatives coordonnées d'actions.

La réunion a démarré le samedi matin avec un grand tour de table. Les participant-e-s y ont parlé de la situation des espaces autonomes et squats dans leurs villes/pays, ont annoncé diverses campagnes et évènements à venir et expliqué ce qu'il pouvait envisager dans le cadre de l'initiative april2008.

Durant la deuxième session de travail, l'assemblée s'est divisée en 8 groupes de discussions. Chacun d'entre eux s'est penché sur des questions de stratégies générales de luttes des espaces autonomes et squats, ainsi que sur des idées plus spécifiques pour avril 2008. Il y eut ensuite un retour en grand groupe.

Le dimanche matin, 7 groupes de travail se sont séparés autour de possibilités et thématiques émergeant des discussions de la veille : journal et programme d'avril 2008, outils digitaux (siteweb, listes, etc.), radio et diffusion du retour sur les diverses actions, autres outils de communication, brainstorming sur les possibilités d'actions, organisation d'une autre rencontre intersquats/espaces autonomes européenne, traductions.

Il y eut de nouveau un retour en grande assemblée avec des décisions et une répartition des personnes présentes sur divers tâches et projets. L'après-midi, tandis que certains groupes continuaient à bosser, il y eut en parrallèle une discussion sur les liens entre espaces autonomes et mouvements sociaux...et une boum finale.

listes mails et forums

Nous avions besoin de canaux de communication pour préparer l'initiative avril2008 et permettre la coordination entre les collectifs impliqués et les différents groupes de travail. Pour ce faire, des gens kiffent les listes mails et d'autres les forums. Au final on a décidé de mettre en place les deux de manière synchronisée : chaque message envoyé sur la liste est posté automatiquement sur le forum pertinent, et chaque message mis sur le forum est renvoyé aussi à la mailing list concernée.

La principale liste de discussion est april2008-coordination@squat.net et il y a un certain nombre d'autres listes pour des groupes de travail spécifiques et un mirroir de leur contenu sur le forum april2008 : http://april2008.squat.net/forum/.

wiki

Un wiki est un site web collaboratif. Chaque page peut-être éditée, par un simple click et les diverses modifications sont gardées en mémoire. C'est un cool outil pour des gens qui veulent bosser ensemble, sur des documents textes, des traductions, des compte-rendus de réus, etc.

Le wiki april2008 est maintenant en ligne sur http://april2008.squat.net/wiki/ et devrait être utilisé par les divers groupes de travail pour poster des documents et des notes qui puissent facilement être retravaillées par d'autres.

Cela devrait aussi permettre à tout le monde de poster facilement des tracts, affiches et textes locaux liés à l'initiative d'avril2008 et qui peuvent être intéressant à partager avec des camarades d'ailleurs. Le wiki permet de les rassembler en un endroit avant qu'ils ne soit mis sur le site web principal.

journal et appel pour des textes

Nous avons mis en place deux types de projets de journaux différents:

- un magazine du type "Abolishing the Borders from below" ("Abolishing property

- un appel à l'envoi de divers textes qui présentent les situations et

agenda d'évènements publics pour april2008

Suivant les lieux et les contextes, Avril20008 va se constituer d'un mélange d'actions surprises non-annoncées et d'évènements publics annoncés à l'avance. Il y aura donc un programme digital et papier des actions annoncées de manière à ce que des gens puissent facilement rejoindre des actions et activités dans des endroits ou des forces extérieures seront bienvenues ou nécessaires. Le programme sera édité début mars et disponible en pdf. On vous invite à envoyer toutes vos annonces d'actions publiques à april2008@squat.net, de manière à ce que nous puissions les publier sur le site web et les synthétiser dans un agenda.

idées d'actions

Un grand nombre d'exemples d'actions possibles ont été mentionnés, ainsi que des cibles communes potentielles liées à la spéculation et à la gestion des propriété privées. Précisons néanmoins encore une fois qu'il n'y aura pas de ligne d'action officielle spécifique. Tout est possible et notamment de rejoindre des actions dans d'autres lieux ou des forces seront nécessaires si rien n'est organisé à cette occasion par chez vous.

Il y a peu de soucis à se faire sur la créativité locale de chacun-e, mais ça ne mange pas de pain de faire apparaître ici certaines tactiques mentionnées en lien avec des expériences locales : occuper un endroit vaste et fou en plein centre pour quelques jours au moins, organiser une action de masse pour occuper un bâtiment dont l'emplacement a été annoncé à l'avance (comme cela a été singulièrement essayé avec quelque succès par les camarades de Copenhague lors du G13 en octobre), viser des agences immobilières, bloquer ou déménager leurs bureaux, enfermer des huissiers entre leurs murs, squatter des maisons de politiciens, organiser des fête et bloquages de rues contre la gentrification, créer des faux de journaux sur les espaces autonomes et politiques de logement et les distribuer massivement aux stations de métro et de bus, squatter des terrains à la campagne, trouver de la force et du nombre pour squatter des lieux dans des zones géographiques où cela n'arrive jamais/où c'est devenu très difficile, organiser des visites "touristiques" pour montrer les maisons vides et expulsées et les nuisances des projets d'urbanismes, organiser des actions de solidarité (sur des consulats, embassades, entreprises des pays ciblés) en soutien à desvlieux menacés d'expulsion dans d'autres pays, proposer des portes-ouvertes dans les lieux, amener les activités proposées à l'intérieur des espaces autonomes au coeur de la ville (ateliers, zones de gratuité, espaces informatiques, infokiosques, concerts...), se choisir une cible commune dans diverses villes (comme cela a été fait par les squatters français en 2005 avec des actions le même jour sur des locaux et mairies du PS dans 17 villes), s'inspirer de l'exemple hollandais d'un livre blanc des squats avec des histoires de squats dans diverses villes, élire, harceler et faire connaitre "le proprio pourri de la semaine", occuper des magasins et supermarchés, perturber les débats politiques officiels et organiser à la place des assemblées sur la nécessité d'espaces autonomes, etc, etc.

caravane européenne intersquat

Des gens de diverses lieux se sont réunis pour travailler sur un projet de caravane. L'idée de base est de voyager collectivement avec une équipe internationale depuis Berlin en mai jusqu'à Barcelone en octobre (ce qui pourrait bien sur changer si ces deux réunions n'ont pas lieu ou à d'autres moments). Cette caravane aurait pour objectif de s'arrêter dans divers espaces autonomes pour réaliser des actions, aider des projets locaux, créer un espace autonome ambulant et diffuser des débats. Les lieux et zones géographiques que la caravane visitera, ses structures, véhicules ainsi que son contenu ne sont pas encore précisément définis, mais une première réunion d'organisation devrait avoir lieu en janvier. autres outils d'informations

Divers possibilités ont été discutées afin d'augmenter la visibilité d'avril2008 et tous les collectifs sont invités à créer des affiches, clips vidéos et jingles radios, tracts, autocollants, modèles de pochoirs...qui puissent être uilisés par d'autres. Des gens ont même dit qu'ils travailleraient sur des outils beaucoup plus inhabituels comme des jeux de cartes. L'idée est de pouvoir diffuser tout ça largement et de les poser ou de mentionner leur existence sur le wiki. De nouveau, si vous produisez de quelconques outils de communication, mettez-les sur le wiki ou envoyez un mail à april2008@squat.net. Soulignons par exemple que si n'importe quel collectif souhaite s'engager assez rapidement à produire une première affiche générique, ce serait un très bon début. De nouveau, nous avons décidé qu'il n'y aurait pas de ligne officielle de communication, ni de logo ou label officiel, mais plutôt beaucoup d'initiatives décentralisées afin de créer des outils qui puissent être utilisés par d'autres. si ils/elles kiffent.

traductions

Un groupe de traduction a été créé pour les divers textes qui vont se retrouver sur le site web, ainsi que pour les projets de journaux. Les demandes de trads peuvent être envoyées directement à april2008-translations@squat.net, et les traductions peuvent être coordonnées par le biais de la liste et du wiki. si vous pouvez aider à traduire des textes dans une quelconque langue, bienvenue sur la liste de traduction.

radio

Un certain nombre de personnes sont d'ores et déjà impliqués dans des projets de radio internet, qui pourraient s'allier pour permettre une couverture des actions d'avril2008 et retransmettre des émissions avant et après avril2008 en se mettant en lien avec des radios fm.

site web

Le site web actuel nécessitait des capacités techniques particulières pour être mis à jour et ne pouvait donc être réapproprié facilement. En surplus du wiki sur lequel il est aisé de publier des textes, il a été décidé d'utiliser un système de type blog pour le site web pour que plus de personnes puissent le gérer.

Toutefois, le site web a été conçu comme un outil minimaliste et "droit au but" pour l'organisation d'avril2008. On veut donc qu'il reste simple et efficace avec seulement les informations nécessaires pour que les gens ne s'y perdent pas.

Tandis que le wiki acceuillera à peu près tout, il y aura donc un travail de sélection pour le site web. Vous pouvez rejoindre l'équipe qui s'en occuppe par le biais de la liste april2008-www@squat.net.

Compte-rendus d'actions et médias indépendants

Malheureusement, ce point clé n'a pas pu être discuté réellement en raison du manque de temps lors de la réu de coordination. Toutefois, il y a fort besoin de créer un groupe qui travaillerait pendant les journées d'actions et juste après pour réunir les divers compte-rendus sur le site web et les diffuser rapidement et largement sur des médias indépendants.

Ceci nécessite un certain travail de préparation, de compilation d'une liste de médias indépendants, de voir comment ceux-ci fonctionnent et de les contacter à l'avance pour une publication rapide quand ce sera nécessaire. les médias bourgeois

Il a été décidé qu'il n'y aurait pas de communication officielle à travers les médias bourgeois et encore moins de "porte-paroles officiels" concernant l'initiative avril2008. Toutefois, libre aux groupes locaux de décider si ils veulent parler de leurs actions à travers des médias mainstreams et mentionner ou non le fait que ces actions ont lieu dans le cadre d'une journée globale d'action.

futures rencontres intersquats/espaces autonomes

Au cours de la réunion de Dijon, diverses personnes ont mentionné le fait que ce moment devrait être vu comme un point de départ pour d'autres rencontres. Divers objectifs ont été posés pour de futures réunions :

- faire un bilan collectif d'avril2008 - avoir plus de temps pour des débats stratégiques - penser à de nouvelles offensives et actions de solidarité possibles

Deux propositions en ce sens ont été faites :

- Berlin en mai 2008 : il a été proposé de se rencontrer quelques jours avant

- Barcelone en octobre 2008 : la proposition va être faite à l'Asamblea de

Následuje krátké shrnutí (před delším reportem) rozhodnutí a projektů, které vycházejí z přípravné schůzky, která se konala v les Tanneries v Dijonu 24. a 25. listopadu.

Schůzky se zúčastnilo kolem 120 lidí z 25 různých států. Iniciativa se setkala s obrovským nadšením a zpětná vazba byla většinou velmi dobrá. Konečně jsme začali.y mít pocit, že se budou konat spousty akcí a iniciativ během dubna 2008.

Kromě toho se vytvořila vzrušující skupinová dynamika pro další intersquatterské schůzky a koordinované iniciativy!

shrnutí průběhu setkání

Setkání začalo v sobotu ráno velkým shromážděním v kruhu. Účastníci a účastnice mluvili.y o situaci autonomních prostorů a squatů v jejich městech/zemích, ohlásili.y různé kampaně a události, a vysvětlovali.y jejich zájem na iniciativě april2008.

Pro další sezení bylo shromáždění rozděleno do 8 diskuzních skupin. Každá z nich se zabývala všeobecnými strategiemi pro squaty a autonomní prostory, nápady na projekty a sdělení týkající se iniciativy. Nakonec se konala společná zpětná vazba.

V neděli ráno se 7 specifických skupin pustilo do témat, která vzešla z brainstormingu předchozího dne: noviny a program iniciativy; informatika (web, mailing listy atd.), rádio a zpětná vazba o jednotlivých akcích; jiné komunikační nástroje; akce; organizace dalšího evropského intersquatterského/autonomistického setkání; překlady.

Závěry byly tlumočeny při větším shromáždění, byla přijata společná rozhodnutí a byly vytvořeny jednotlivé pracovní skupiny. Odpoledne, zatímco některé skupiny pracovaly, proběhla diskuze na téma "propojení autonomních prostorů a sociálních hnutí" a den skončil taneční party!

Potřebovali.y jsme komunikační kanály k přípravě iniciativy april2008 a umožnit koordinaci mezi kolektivy a různými pracovními skupinami. Jenže někdo má rád mailing listy, někdo fóra. Abychom vyřešili.y tento problém, rozhodli.y jsme se mít obojí, jak mailing listy, tak fóra, ale synchronizovaná: takže každá zpráva, která je poslána na mailing list, se automaticky objeví na relevantním fóru a naopak.

Hlavní diskuzní fórum/list se jmenuje april2008-coordination@squat.net a ještě existuje několik dalších pro jednotlivé pracovní skupiny, to všechno je zrcadleno na fórech: http://april2008.squat.net/forum/. Pokud se chcete připojit, prosím, učiňte tak! Stačí když pošlete mail, kde představíte svůj kolektiv a své motivace na april2008/zavináč/squat.net.

Wiki je web tvořený společně. Každá stránka může být pozměněna jednoduše kliknutím na tlačítko a změny jsou zaznamenávány v paměti. Je to skvělý nástroj, s jehož pomocí můžou pracovat dohromady různí lidé, na textu nebo překladech, zápiscích ze schůzky, atd.

Wiki pro inicativu april2008 už je online tady:

a měla by být využita různými pracovními skupinami k uveřejňování dokumentů, na nichž pracují, a poznámek, které mají být snadno editovány ostatními.

Také by měla umožnit komukoli, kdo je zapojen do příprav, uveřejnit lokálně vytvořené letáky, plakáty, materiály... cokoli, co má být sdíleno s druhými souputníky a shromážděno na nějakém místě, předtím, než bude přesunuto na hlavní web.

noviny a výzva k posílání textů

Existují dva různé projekty novin:

- časopis ve stylu "Abolishing Borders from Below" ("Abolishing Property from Below"?), zaměřený na squaty a autonomní prostory. Časopis bude k mání měsíc před dubnem 2008. Měl by poskytnout nástroj reflexe, nikoli pouze reporty z akcí, prohlášení o nově otevřených squatech a jejich prezentace, ale také hlubší strategické debaty, stejně jako témata, která se netýkají jen velkých squatterských bašt, jako Amsterdam nebo Barcelona. Konečný termín pro zasílání příspěvků je počátek února a tým lidí z nich bude vybírat, upravovat je a graficky zpracovávat. Konečný výsledek bude v PDF formátu a bude snadno vytisknutelný kdekoli jinde. Ještě nevíme, jestli vyjde tento časopis jednou v rámci april2008 nebo bude vycházet nějak pravidelně i pak. Nejde o oficiální časopis iniciativy, ale o jeden z komunikačních projektů s událostí spojených. Můžete se připojit k vydavatelskému týmu skrz mailing list.

- výzva k psaní různých textů, které by představily situace squatů a autonomních prostorů všude kolem. Už byla napsána a měla by být rozeslána. Texty budou přidány na wiki, aby tak lidé mohli.y použít ty, které se jim líbí k publikování v různých lokálních fanzinech před dubnem 2008. program veřejných akcí

April2008 bude směsicí obojího, jak "neohlášených" překvapení, tak veřejných "předem ohlášených" akcí. Na internetu i na papíře bude vydán program, aby se lidé mohli.y přidat k akcím a aktivitám v místech, kde je účast a/nebo síla vítána. Program bude vydán počátkem března a bude dostupný v PDF formátu. Zveme vás, abyste poslali.y všechna vaše oznámení na april2008/zavináč/squat.net, aby mohla být publikována na webu a pak shrnuta v programu.

jiné informační nástroje

Různé možnosti byly diskutovány, aby byla iniciativa april2008 zviditelněna a všechny kolektivy vyzýváme k tomu, aby vytvářely plakáty, video klipy, letáky, samolepky, šablony... které by mohly být použity ostatními. Někdo dokonce řekl, že budou pracovat na nějakých méně obvyklých věcech, jako karetní hry. To všechno by mělo být rozšířené a dostupné nebo zmíněné na wiki a/nebo webu. Ještě jednou, vytvoříte-li nějaký nástroj komunikace, dejde ho na wiki a napište mail na april2008/zavináč/squat.net!

Musíme podtrhnout, že by bylo skvělé, kdyby někdo chtěl na začátek vytvořit všeobecně použitelný plakát, což by byla obrovská pomoc! Nicméně, rozhodli.y jsme, že nebude oficiální komunikační linie, oficiální logo, oficiální nálepka april2008; spíše spousta decentralizovaných iniciativ, které by vytvořily komunikační nástroje, které mohou ostatní použít, chtějí-li.

překlady

Speciální skupina byla vytvořena pro překládání textů, které budou na webu, stejně jako textů souvisejících s jinými komunikačními nástroji a projekty týkajícími se novin. Návrhy na překlady mohou být posílány přímo na april2008-translation/zavináč/squat.net a překlady budou koordinovány skrz mailing listy a wiki. Kdokoli může pomoci s překlady do jakýchkoli jazyků by se měl přihlásit na tento mailing list.

Mnoho lidí je zapojeno do existujících internetových rádií, ti.y by se mohli.y přidat a poskytnout pokrytí událostí kolem april2008, jak se budou rozvíjet, a vysílat související programy před/po akčních dnech, s možným přenosem na analogová FM rádia. Přidejte se k pracovní skupině, pokud máte chuť být při tom!

Současný web vyžaduje nějaké technické dovednosti, aby mohl být aktualizován a jako takový, nemůže být osvojen lidmi bez webmasterských znalostí. Mimo wiki, která poskytuje snadné uživatelské rozhraní pro publikování, bylo rozhodnuto, že web bude mít formu blogu, aby bylo většímu množství lidí umožněno ho aktualizovat.

Nicméně, web byl vytvořen v minimalistickém duchu a má být informačním prostorem "přímo k věci." Chceme, aby zůstal jednoduchý a přímočarý, pouze s informacemi, které jsou důležité, aby se v něm lidé neztráceli.y.

Zatímco wiki shromáždí tak trochu všechno možné, pouze důležité části toho, co se objevilo na wiki nebo v mailing listech bude publikováno na webu, týmem, který bude spravovat web a jehož mailing list je april2008-www/zvináč/squat.net a rád přivítá dobrovolníky a dobrovolnice!

Naneštěstí nebyla tato klíčová otázka opravdu prodiskutována kvůli nedostatku času. Stále je ale velká potřeba vytvořit skupinu, která by pracovala během a přímo po akčních dnech a dala dohromady různé reporty z webu a rychle je rozšířila v širokém okruhu nezávislých médií.

Bylo rozhodnuto, že nebude oficiální komunikace s mainstreamovými médii a ani oficiální mluvčí pro april2008 jako celek.

Nicméně, je to na rozhodnutí lokálních skupin samotných, zda chtějí publikovat svoje akce skrz mainstreamová média a zmínit se o tom, že se konají v rámci globálního dne mobilizací.

budoucí intersquat/autonomistická setkání

Během setkání v Dijonu bylo často opakováno, že tyto schůzky by měly být vnímány jako počátek dalších setkání. Objevily se různé důvody pro takový návrh:

- společně zhodnotit april2008

- mít víc času na strategické debaty

- přemýšlet o nových možných ofenzivách a solidárních akcích

Byla navržena dvě možná místa pro příští setkání:

- květen 2008 v Berlíně: bylo navrhnuto setkat se několik dní před dny na podporu Koepi, aby lidé mohli.y zůstat na akce, pokud budou chtít. Někteří lidé z toho byli.y nadšení, ale jiní.é byli.y skeptičtější, protože setkání v takovém kontextu by nemuselo umožnit klidné debaty, které by mohly jít do hloubky, a energie setkání by mohla být spolknuta dynamikou akcí nebo policejním tlakem. Tato debata bude znovu navržena lidem v Berlíně, kteří rozhodnou, zda si přejí svolat toto setkání nebo ne.

- říjen 2008 v Barceloně: návrh bude vznesen na Asamblea de Okupas (městské squatterské shromáždění). Setkání by mohla i nemusela být doprovázena dny akcí, podle lokálního kontextu, podle rozhodnutí organizátorů a podle zkušenosti z berlínského setkání.

intersquaterská evropská karavana

Někteří lidé z různých měst pracují na projektu karavany. Myšlenka je, cestovat společně s mezinárodním týmem z Berlína do Barcelony, od května do října (což se může změnit, pokud se tato setkání neuskuteční). To by umožnilo strávit čas v různých autonomních prostorech a dělat akce, pomáhat lokálním projektům, vytvořit travellující autonomní prostor a šířit debaty. Prostory a geografické zóny, které karavana navštíví, její struktury, dopravní prostředky a její obsah nejsou ještě moc definované, ale první organizační setkání by mělo proběhnout v lednu (pozn. 26. a 27. ledna, asi v Dijonu). Bylo navrženo mnoho příkladů možných akcí, stejně jako dost zřejmé společné cíle - spekulanti a management soukromých nemovitostí. Ujasněme si to, ačkoli nebude žádné oficiální pravidlo. Všechno je možné. Přidejte se k akcím v jiných městech, kde jste potřební.é, pokud se doma nic neděje!

I když se nebojíme o lokální tvořivost každé.ho, nemůže uškodit, když si řekneme pár taktik, o nichž lidé mluvili.y, ve spojení s jejich současnými lokálními zkušenostmi: zasquatovat něco šíleného a obrovského přímo v centru města, organizovat masovou akci k obsazení budovy s místem předem ohlášeným (jako během kodaňské G13), zaměřit se na opravdové realitní kanceláře, zablokovat nebo odstranit jejich kanceláře, zamknout soudní vykonavatele, zasquatovat domy politiků, organizovat streetparties proti gentrifikaci, vytvářet falešné noviny o autonomních prostorech a bytové politice a masově je distribuovat v busech/předměstských zastávkách a ve městě, squatovat půdu na venkově, najít sílu a lidi a otevřít squaty na místech, kde k tomu nikdy nedošlo nebo kde se to stalo velmi obtížné, organizovat turistické prohlídky měst a ukazovat všechny vyklizené domy a zlo současného urbanismu, organizovat solidární akce (na konzulátech nebo zahraničních společnostech...) pro squaty, jimž hrozí vystěhování v jiných zemích, organizovat dny otevřených dveří a otevřené aktivity v autonomních prostorech, přenést aktivity autonomního prostoru ven do ulic (workshopy, obchůdky, kde je vše zdarma, hackerské dílny, infošopy, představení...), vybírat si společného nepřítele v různých městech (jako v r.2005, kdy proběhlo ve Francii 17 decentralizovaných akcí na socialistických radnicích), inspirovat se holandskou bílou knihou squattingu s vyprávěním o squatech ve všech městech, zvolit "nejhoršího majitele nemovitosti týdne," obsadit obchody a supermarkety, rušit oficiální politické debaty a organizovat vaše vlastní diskuze o potřebě autonomních prstorů, atd., atd.

Tak, to by bylo prozatím všechno. Bude toho ale víc, jestli chcete!

What follows is a short synthesis (before a longer report) of the decisions and projects coming out of the april2008 coordination meeting that took place in « Les Tanneries », Dijon, on November 24-25th.

The meeting was attended by some 120 people from 25 different countries. The initiative was met with great enthousiasm, and feedback from the meeting was generally really good. It definitely gave us the feeling that there would be tons of actions and initiatives in April 2008.

Beyond that, it generated quite a thrilling collective dynamic for further intersquat meetings and coordinated initiatives!

The meeting started on Saturday morning with a big round-table. Participants talked about the situation of autonomous spaces and squats in their towns/countries, announced various campaigns and events, and explained their interest in the april2008 initiative.

For the second sesssion, the assembly was split in 8 discussion groups. Each of them addressed both general strategies for squats/autonomous spaces, and ideas for april2008-related projects and contents. It was followed by a feedback session in large group.

On Sunday morning, 7 specific working groups tackled around topics that came out of the previous day's brainstorming: newspaper and april2008 program; digital tools (website, lists, etc.), radio and feedback about the various actions; other communication tools; actions brainstorming; organisation of another european intersquat/autonomous spaces meeting; translations.

Conclusions were fed back to the bigger assembly, decisions were taken and people committed to the different working-groups. In the afternoon, while some of the groups kept working, a discussion on "links between autonomous spaces and social movements" took place, and the day ended with a dance party!

mailing-lists and forums

We needed communication channels to prepare the april2008 initiatives and allow coordination between collectives involved and the various working groups. To do so, some people like mailing-lists, some people like forums. In order to solve this problem, we decided to have both mailing-lists and forums, but synchronized: every message sent to a list is automatically posted in the relevant forum, and every forum post is sent to the matching mailing-list.

The main discussion list is called april2008-coordination[bloodySPAM]squat.net, and there's a number of other lists for working groups, all of which are mirrored on the april2008 forums: http://april2008.squat.net/forum/. A wiki is a collaborative website. Every page can be edited, simply by clicking on a button, while modifications are kept in memory. It is a great tool for different people to work altogether, on a text document, on translations, on meeting minutes, etc.

The april2008 wiki is now online at http://april2008.squat.net/wiki/ and should be used by the different working groups to post work-in-progress documents and notes that need to be easily edited by others.

It should also allow anyone involved in the initiative to post locally produced flyers, posters, materials... whatever needs to be shared with fellow april2008 comrades and gathered in some place, before being put on the main website.

newspaper and call for texts

There are two different newspaper related projects:

- an "Abolishing Borders from Below"-type magazine ("Abolishing Property

- a call for various texts that would present situations of squats and

agenda of public april2008 events

April2008 will be a mix of both surprise "not-announced" actions and public "announced-beforehand" events. There will be paper and digital versions of a program, so that people can join actions and activities in places where participation is welcomed and/or forces needed. The schedule will be edited early March, and available as a PDF. We invite you to send all your announcements to april2008[bloodySPAM]squat.net, so they can be published on the website and then summarized on the agenda.

other information tools

Various possibilities have been discussed to make april2008 more visible and all collectives are invited to create posters, video clips, flyers, stickers, stencils... that could be used by others. Some people even said that they would work on some more unusual stuffs as card games. All these should be spread widely and be available or mentionned through the wiki and/or website. Once again, if you produce any communication tool, upload it to the wiki, and send a mail to april2008[bloodySPAM]squat.net!

We must underline that it would be great if some people wanted to produce a generic poster to start with, which would be a great help! However, we once again decided that there wouldn't be an official communication line, an official logo, an official april2008 label; rather a lot of decentralised initiatives to create communication items that can be used by others if they like it.

A translation group was created to translate the various texts that will be on the website, as well as texts related to the other communication tools and newspaper projects. Translation requests can be sent directly to april2008-translation[bloodySPAM]squat.net, and translations will be coordinated through the list and the wiki. Anyone who could help with translating texts in whatever languages should subscribe to the translation list.

A number of people are involved in existing Internet radio initiatives, that could join forces to provide a coverage of the april2008 events as they unfold, and broadcast related programs before/after the action days, with possible retransmission on FM analog radios. The current website requires some technical skills to be updated, and, as such, can't be appropriated by people without webmastering knowledge. In addition to the wiki, which provides an easy to use publishing interface, it has been decided to use a blog engine to power the website, to allow more people to update it.

However, the website was designed as a minimalistic and "straight to the point" information space about april2008. We want it to remain simple and straightforward, with just the necessary information, so that people don't get lost.

While the wiki will collect pretty much everything, only relevant bits of what's been uploaded to the wiki or posted to the lists will be published onto the website, by the web editorial team, whose list is april2008-www[bloodySPAM]squat.net, and can be joined by volunteers!

action reports and mediactivism

Unfortunately, this key issue hasn't been discussed properly because of a lack of time. Still, there is a big need to create a group that would work during and right after the days of actions to put together the various reports on the website and spread them quickly on a wide range of independant media.

This requires some work beforehands, to compile a list of alternative media, see how they work and get in touch with them for quick publications when needed. If you want to get involved with that task and/or if you have such knowledge/links, please get in touch!

mainstream media

It was decided that there would be no official communication towards the mainstream media, and even less official spokespersons for the global april2008 initiative.

Nevertheless, it is up to local groups to decide if they want to publicize their local actions through mainstream media and mention that it occurs within the framework of a global day of action.

future intersquat/autonomous spaces meetings

············································

During the meeting in Dijon, it was often said that these encounters should be seen as a starting point for further meetings. There was various good reasons to propose future intersquats/autonomous spaces meeting after this first week-end:

- to have a collective account and evaluation of april2008;

- to have more time for strategical debates;

- to think about new possible offensives and solidarity actions;

Two possibilities for new meetings were proposed:

- May 2008, Berlin: it was proposed to meet some days ahead of Koepi's

- October 2008, Barcelona: the proposal will be made at the Asamblea de

intersquat european caravane

Some people form various cities are working on a caravan project. The idea is to travel collectively with an international team from Berlin in May to Barcelona in October (which might change if these two meetings don't happen). This would allow to spend time in various autonomous spaces to do actions, help local projects, create a travelling autonomous space and spread debates. The spaces and geographical zones that the caravan will visit, its structures, vehicles and its content are still not much defined, but a first caravan organization meeting should happen in January. ideas for actions

A lot of examples of possible actions have been mentionned as well as quite obvious possible common targets linked with speculation and private property management. Let's make it clear, though, that there will be no april2008 official action guideline. Everything is possible. Join actions in other cities where forces will be needed if nothing happens at home!

Though there is no worry about everyone's local creativity, it can't harm to state some of the tactics people have been mentionning, related to their recent local experiences: squatting something crazy and huge right in the town center, organizing a mass action to occupy a building with the location announced in advance (as during the Copenhagen's G13), targetting real estate agencies, blocking or removing their offices, locking bailifs inside their doors, squatting politician's houses, organizing Reclaim The Streets parties against gentrification, creating fake newspapers about autonomous spaces and housing politics to distribute massively in bus/suburbs stations and around town, squatting land in the countryside, finding strenght and people to open and keep squats in places where it never happened or where it became really difficult, to organize tourist visits of the cities showing all the houses evicted and the evil of contemporary urbanism, organizing solidarity actions (on consulates or targetted country companies...) for squats threatened of eviction in other countries, proposing open doors and open activities in an autonomous space, bringing the activities of an autonomous space outside in town (workshops, free-zone, hacklab, infoshop, gigs...), choosing a common ennemy in various towns (as it was done by french squatters in 2005, with 17 decentralised actions on Socialist Party's city councils and headquarters), following the dutch example of a white book of squatting, with stories of squats in every cities, electing the "bad landlord of the week", occupying shops and supermarkets, disturbing official political debates and organizing your own discussion about the need for autonomous spaces, etc., etc.
