What's CasaViva?
CasaViva is a project which wants to be open to the city, available to welcome irreverent initiatives that propose new ways of thinking, through music, painting, theatre, talks, cinema, workshops, literature, dance. It's a free entrance space.
CasaViva is supported by a dozen of friends who enjoy to be envolved in the project. People who open and close the door, make sure the iniciatives are carryed on, promote the debate, think, clean the ashtrays, the floor and the WCs. In order to keep the space – and following a philosophy of sharing rights and responsabilities –, we expect that anyone who looks for the house to make something happen will contribute in a similar way.
CasaViva is a private house, temporarily borrowed by the owner with no money included. Supported by those friends who don't want to intitutionalize the project. What we have to do in exchange is to preserve the space and give it life. Giving it animation as an alternative or putting our hands in its skin. You can intervene, as long as you respect the structure and some facings.
CasaViva will always be a private house. It is open only when there's something happening inside, but the door is always closed and people need to knock on it. There's nothing on the outside showing what goes on inside. The concerts should be on Fridays and Saturdays and must end at 10,00 pm.
CasaViva does not pay the artists and it does not ask anyone to pay to get in. Free entrance. Each artist is free to ask for some help at the end of his show. The advertisement of the events is the responsability of the organizers. CasaViva participates by its blog and mailing list. In order to do so, we need to have as soon as possible (minimum is a week before) the information about what will happen there: text and image (400x300 dpi).
CasaViva has 4 floors, a little garden and a terrrace, Half a dozen of free rooms, a kitchen and 2 WCs. A long corridor and stairs with natural light from above. It also has: a projector, a PA (mix table and its amplifyer and also the sound exits), some jack-jack and XLR (or cannon-cannn) cables and 3 mics. It's begining to collect and catalogue movies, cds, magazines, books, fanzines... to share. The information is always free.
CasaViva exists since April 2006. Because of the reasons stated in its Manifesto: manifesto-casaviva.blogspot.com/.
